120th Annual SARANAC LAKE WINTER CARNIVAL FEBRUARY 3-12, 2017 "ADIRONDACK WILDLIFE" The annual 10-day festival will include performances, sports, dances, parades and two sets of spectacular fireworks above the world-famous Ice Palace. Kicking off with the coronation of the Winter Carnival Royalty, the event proceeds with the lighting of the Ice Palace, fireworks, parades and performances and culminates in the Carnival Slide Show and Gala Fireworks. The 2017 edition marks the 120th anniversary making the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival the longest-running event of its kind in the eastern United States.

Tastes of Maple is a great way to top off your day of sugar house tours, while you sample local maple-based cuisine, taste some beer and spirits, listen to great local music and find the perfect restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sat-Sun, various times The Lake George Winter Carnival celebrates Adirondack wintertime family fun outdoor activities every weekend in February. Opening Ceremonies, and parade along Canada Street take place on the first weekend. Polar Plunge, pony rides, cook-off competitions, helicopter rides. S'mores and fireworks on Saturday. All events and activities are weather permitting.

Adirondack Winter Fun at Silver Bay -Silver Bay
Fri, 4-9pm; Sat-Sun 6:30am-9pm; Mon, 6:30-11am Enjoy the fresh Adirondack mountain air and wintertime fun! Bring your ice skates, snowshoes and cross-country skis. Weekend activities include snowshoe walk, broom ball, sledding, Iceman obstacle course, snow sculpture contest. The Winter Ball on Saturday night at 7:30pm features live music by the Keith Pray Quartet, dancing. There will be a children's craft/games corner. Also refreshments and a basket raffle. On Sunday evening there is skating under the stars, a bonfire, s'mores. Please note, activities that are weather dependent may be substituted based on conditions.

4pm With the arrival of spring and the flowing of sap the Adirondack tradition of maple syrup production begins. Celebrate with us at our all-you-can-eat buffet. Dessert is old-fashioned jackwax, made from pure local maple syrup. Jackwax parties have been held by North Country folks forever, and this confection, it has been said, probably originated with the Native Americans. Musical entertainment by area musicians. The Town of Thurman has held a Jack Wax party for 58 years. Our Maple Sugar Party has continued the tradition of hosting the meal as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society to help those with this disease. Be sure to visit our maple producers, Valley Road Maple Farm, Adirondack Gold Maple Farm, Toad Hill Maple Farm and Hidden Hollow Maple Farm on Maple Days March 11-12; March 18-19 and March 25-26, 2017.
